# Update a tag

Rename a tag.

`PUT /api/tag`

Updates a tag's name. Renaming a tag does not break existing assignments.

## Parameters

| Name | In | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `tagId` | body | string | yes | ID of the tag. |
| `tagName` | body | string | no | New tag name. |

## Errors

| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 400 | Invalid `tagId` or validation failure. |
| 401 | Missing or invalid Basic auth credentials, or the service account lacks the required role. |
